The Washington-based company says the electric power research facility could ultimately employ up to 300 people.
Financial terms of the project were not released. Plans for the facility, located on about 10 acres near U.S. 231 on the West Lafayette campus, were first announced in April. Purdue President Mitch Daniels at that time called the investment in the facility a breakthrough moment for the Purdue Discovery Park District.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and will feature remarks from Daniels, SEL Chief Executive Officer Edmund Schweitzer, and other representatives from Purdue and the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
