Grant to Fulfill Post-Secondary Education Needs

Subscribe NowFunding has been awarded to seven organizations and businesses from the Wabash Heartland Innovation Network to provide post-secondary education for precision agriculture. The funding will specifically be used to develop precision agriculture training, post-secondary programming, and a learning laboratory.
Indiana West Advantage of Montgomery County, Ivy Tech Lafayette, Bane-Welker Equipment, Co-Alliance, Stan Mithoefer Scholarship, Beck’s Hybrids and Farm Credit Mid-America have been awarded nearly $900,000 in an impact grant from the Network’s Regional Cultivation Fund.
Ivy Tech currently has programs and curriculum for precision agriculture technicians and specialists, but no institutions in the Wabash Heartland 10-county region currently offer an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in the field.
A training laboratory will also be established at the Bane Agriculture Technology Center, at Ivy Tech Lafayette. The lab will allow hands-on learning with precision agriculture components, digital sensors, and IoT technology.
