The 70,000-square-foot facility near Indianapolis International Airport will be used to make Pluvicto, which treats patients with advanced-stage prostate cancer who have run out of treatment options.
The facility, which already has more than 150 employees, is only the second location in the U.S. for Novartis to produce radioligand therapies, or RLTs. The company said it anticipates further growth at the location.
In January, Novartis received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to begin commercial production of Pluvicto, which was originally developed by Dr. Philip Low, the Presidential Scholar for Drug Discovery at Purdue University, and received FDA approval in March 2022.
The grand opening celebration will take place at 2 p.m.
