The Elkhart Truth reports the facility is part of a larger growth initiative that Grand Design says will create up to 700 jobs.
Chief Executive Officer Don Clark says the facility, which is located on the city’s east side, nearly doubles the size of its service, parts and warranty departments.
“It’s wonderful when we can look at our economy and our expansive places and the positioning your industry has enjoyed,” said Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson. “My representation of what I do in the city doesn’t happen without this kind of footprint. This is the kind of footprint that allows us to continue to be in the leadership position as it relates to manufacturing across our state. Our city and our county overextends itself in this industry and it’s wonderful to represent an industry that is so great.”
Additionally, the publication reports the RV maker is currently constructing four new manufacturing and support facilities at its Middlebury complex. When completed, the company will have more than two million square feet of manufacturing and support space in Elkhart County.
