Genesis Products, which manufactures laminated panels, wood components and custom molded products for a variety of industries, has acquired Funder America Inc. in North Carolina, though financial details were not disclosed.
Genesis makes products such as kitchen cabinets, closets and shelving, and furniture for the recreational vehicle, manufactured housing, building materials, healthcare, office and education markets, among others.
Funder specializes in the manufacture of wood components, including Thermally Fused Melamine (TFL) panels. Genesis said in a news release the acquisition will allow the company to meet high demand for TFL panels.
“Adding TFL manufacturing to our capabilities solidifies our position as the most comprehensive supplier of laminated components and panels in North America,” Genesis CEO Jon Wenger said. “We are passionate about leveraging the breadth of our offering to better serve OEMs, distributors and retailers across the country.”
The acquisition includes Funder facilities in North Carolina, Florida and Arkansas, which Wenger said “will greatly expand our national footprint.” Genesis employs more than 1,000 people across nine plants across the Midwest and East Coast, according to the company’s website.
Funder America President Peter Funder will continue to lead the company as a division of Genesis. The company did not specify if any jobs would be negatively affected by the acquisition.
The deal comes three months after Genesis Products acquired Virginia-based BHK of America.
