The school says those interested in studying game development, sport management, marine biology and students who want to become family nurse practitioners will have new opportunities.
The sport management major will offer study in business, international elements and communication, along with internships to prepare students for the different aspects of sports. Sport management careers include, scouts, agents, athletic directors, event managers and more. The computer science department will provide a game development minor to offer students a foundation to design games, including drawing, animation and programming. Students will be able to make a game from scratch to test their coding and storytelling skills. Both new programs begin in the fall.
2020 Goshen College environmental and marine science majors will have the opportunity to participate in a semester-long residential Marine Biology Semester at the college’s J.N. Roth Marine Biology station in the Florida Keys. Goshen College has collaborated with Old Dominion University faculty to use the biology station for six summer weeks to supervise two Goshen students who conduct research with the ODU team. Students who have earned a Master of Science in Nursing will also be offered a post-master’s degree Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate program. The program is designed for classes to meet once a week, with students completing the program in one or two years. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts nurse practitioner employment to increase by 31-percent from 2014 to 2024.
