As Inside INdiana Business reported in June, Mahan stepped down from his elected position to assume a job with Community Health Network. He had served with the Indiana General Assembly for nine years in House District 31, which includes all of Blackford County and portions of Delaware, Grant and Wells counties.
The Indiana Republican party set the final roster of candidates. The candidates are:
- Steve Henderson
- John Lancaster
- Ann Vermilion
According to the state GOP, voters at the caucus will cast their votes by secret ballot. A winner is declared after one candidate receives 50 percent plus one of the eligible voters. If there is no majority vote, the person with the lowest number is dropped and a second ballot takes place.
The caucus will be held at the Ivy Tech Community College campus in Marion.
