Alber’s background includes more than 27 years within the academic sector, most recently serving as principal of La Porte High School.
In the role, Alber will help students earn a high school diploma, and connect them to certifications and training for local employment.
“We’re very proud to add Chris’s knowledge to our leadership team at the Goodwill Excel Centers,” said Debie Coble, chief executive officer of Goodwill Industries of Michiana. “He has quite a diverse amount of academic experience in working with different student populations and serving across a number of administrative roles. These skillsets are going to lead to great outcomes and promising careers for the students in our Excel Center programs.”
The nonprofit says Alber will initially focus on increasing enrollment at the four Excel campuses, which are located in South Bend, Elkhart, Gary, and Hammond. He will also work to connect with local stakeholders to communicate on behalf of Goodwill.
Additionally, the nonprofit says Alber previously taught within various educational settings, including at alternative schools, special education, and general high school classrooms.
