The airport is looking for professional planning and engineering services to develop a vision for the next 20 years.
The airport says its last Master Plan Study wrapped up in 2001. Since then, it has completed many of the goals it outlined, including adding a second fixed-base operator and two LEED-certified hangars at Gary Jet Center.
Crews completed the $174 million runway expansion project in July. That effort extended the main runway by 1,900 feet, which allows the airport to serve more destinations and accommodate larger planes. It also puts the airport’s runway safety areas in compliance with new Federal Aviation Administration standards.
RFQ responses are due by January 7.
