Monday, the marketing technology platform that provides custom audio advertising and licensed music for location-based businesses says it plans to hire an additional 250-plus employees by 2020. Fuzic Chief Executive Officer Brent Oakley says the company’s rapid growth is simply a result of increasing demand.
"The adoption of our product has been phenomenal," said Oakley. "We have a product that did not exist before, so we’ve seen a tremendous amount of growth. And with that (growth), it takes a lot of people to make it all happen."
It also takes support from city and state officials. According to Oakley, the state will provide $3.3 million in job creation tax incentives through 2020, as well as up to $145,000 in training grants.
"There is always this period of ramping up with employees," says Oakley. "You’ve got to buy them (employees) new computers. We’ve got all of these things we’ve got to purchase, which is really difficult for a start-up company to be able to spend money on. Those incentives are going to allow us to grow at an aggressive clip."
The City of Fishers also kicked in an incentive package that will help the company move into its new 11,736-square-foot office space in the Braden Building located in Fishers’ Nickel Plate District.
Fuzic is not the only company Oakley started in central Indiana. He also started Prime Car Wash in 2012.
"The only way that I have been able to successfully start two companies is by having a city and a state that supports entrepreneurs."
Fuzic plans to move into its new office space in January.
