Michigan-based Cold Heading Co. says it will invest more than $12 million to double the size of its Fremont facilities and add up to 30 jobs by 2019.
Cold Heading Co. makes cold formed fasteners for the automotive, agriculture, marine and industrial industries. It says increased demand from customers including General Motors, Nissan, Ford and Chrysler has led to the need for growth. The company broke ground last week on the expansion, which will cover a combined 148,000 square feet and allow for additional production capacity.
Vice President of Manufacturing Dave Goss says the company chose Fremont because it "will be able to hire employees with world-class skill sets to produce at high rates with first-class quality."
Cold Heading Co. has 800 employees in three states, including about 175 at its facilities in Fremont and Hudson, Indiana. The more than century-old company says it is currently hiring machine operators, tool room associates and repair technicians. The positions are expected to pay above the average Steuben County wage.
