Prior to being elected chairman, White had served as chair of the organization’s executive committee and board of directors. He is also a member of the group’s federal delegate board, as well as its policy development and nominating committees.
The Independent Community Bankers of America is an advocacy organization focused exclusively on promoting the interests of locally operated community banks and savings organizations.
“We have the best banking model in the world right here, but every day, we face new challenges,” White said Sunday during the organization’s national convention in Orlando, Florida, when he was named chairman. “Educating members of Congress about what we do as community bankers, why we do it, and how we do it – is critical to creating and promoting an environment where community banks flourish.”
In addition to leading The Fountain Trust Co. since 2016, White is a partner at his family law firm, White & White Attorneys LLP. He is also a past chairman of the Indiana Bankers Association.
“Lucas is one of community banking’s biggest advocates and a faithful steward of his community,” ICBA Immediate Past Chairman Derek Williams said in a news release. “His leadership and visionary approach are poised to make a lasting and positive impact on our industry.”
White is a graduate of Indiana University.
