The Northwest Indiana Forum has unveiled an infrastructure-heavy 2017 legislative agenda. Chief Executive Officer Heather Ennis says the highlighted improvements "will create opportunities for this and future generations."
She continued "exciting projects are taking shape that will dramatically improve the economic development landscape in Northwest Indiana."
The organization says the purpose of its legislative agenda is to focus on issues its membership believes will help develop a globally competitive economic climate in the region.
The priorities include:
- Investment of the Northwest Indiana Commuter Rail Expansion & Infrastructure
- Transportation Infrastructure Legislative Improvements
- Protect Economic Development Incentive Programs
- Workforce Development
- Funding for the Purdue University Northwest Bioscience Innovation Building from the state: construction would cost $40.5 million.
- Permanent Funding of the Regional Cities Initiatives Grant Program
- Continued Support for the Coalition for the Improvements of US 30
