A new release cites that residents and business owners raised concerns over the safety and proper usage of the Chicago-based Veo’s scooters after they were found to be ridden “recklessly and negligently.”
Veo is one of several scooter companies on the market. The company is being asked to cease operations and remove its fleet from the city by Sept. 4. The move is similar to other concerns and actions cities in Indiana and across the county have made.
The city said 500 stand-up scooters and around 80 seated scooters were deployed in the city most recently.
Fort Wayne okayed Veo’s permit in 2019 for a pilot program. The goal was to increase transportation options and reduce traffic congestion. No tax dollars were spent on the transportation option, the city said.
