Our partners at WPTA-TV report Fort Wayne Community Schools will provide a multi-approach to instruction when school begins August 10.
Pre-kindergarten through 5th grade will attend school daily, but parents will have the option of choosing remote learning for their child.
As for secondary students, in grades 6-12, parents will have a choice of blended learning.
Fort Wayne Community Schools Superintendent Mark Daniel said students will be divided up into groups, and certain groups will attend in-person classes on a Monday-Thursday format, while Group B will attend the other days.
WPTA reports high school students will have the opportunity to attend classes entirely remotely.
“This is currently the plan, and we know there will be adjustments,” new FWCS Superintendent Mark Daniel said. “I’ll tell you it’s going to take an extreme amount of collaboration and cooperation with our building-level administrators and with our teachers and our teacher leaders.”
Face coverings will be required for all students. FWCS will be supplying new masks for students each day to minimize infection.
Daniels says FWCS has secured laptops and iPads, and officials have developed plans to provide connectivity so that all families will be able to connect to the internet for schoolwork.
Lunch for students will now be delivered to classrooms.
