Thursday marked a groundbreaking for the neighborhood health clinic that will be operated by Meridian Health Services. In a release, the city said the almost 10,000 square-foot clinic will provide primary care, behavioral health and a pharmacy.
The groundbreaking of the clinic itself also marks the start of a new phase of construction on the Village Premier project—a $65 million mixed-use development near South Anthony Boulevard and McKinnie Avenue.
At the same time as the groundbreaking, officials also celebrated the end of the development’s first phase with the completion of Park’s Edge, which included 208 apartment units.
Future phases will see even more housing—one of the development’s main goals—around 50 more apartments, close to 60 market-rate townhomes, 12 single-family homes and an early learning center.
“The progress that’s being made in southeast Fort Wayne is evident through so many new projects and initiatives that are uplifting and positive,” said Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker. “The Village Premier mixed-use development is having an immediate impact with much needed housing offerings, and now a medical clinic is moving forward to assist residents.”
The development of Village Premier is being led by Indianapolis-based House Investments in partnership with MKM Architecture and Michael Kinder & Sons in Fort Wayne. The overall project also received $5 million in funding through the state’s Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative, or READI.
