Henry announced the launch of Engage Fort Wayne, an online platform designed to encourage residents to engage with various projects and programs being undertaken by the city.
“This new website is a one stop location to learn about the city projects that we’re putting forth in our neighborhoods,” Henry said. “And you as citizens will be able to provide input and share experiences that will help shape these important initiatives.”
Currently, Engage Fort Wayne features several projects from the city’s Community Development, Parks and Recreation, and Public Works departments. However, the mayor said more departments will be added in the coming weeks.
“Fort Wayne’s success relies on its residents being actively involved,” the mayor said in a news release. “Engage Fort Wayne shows our commitment to inclusivity and collaboration, especially among neighborhoods, by giving everyone a platform to be heard and valued.”
The city noted that the website offers multilingual translation as well as access from any device. You can learn more about Engage Fort Wayne by clicking here.
Additionally, the mayor used his State of the City speech to tout the city’s growth, particularly when it comes to quality of place initiatives and downtown development.
Henry said the city’s riverfront development serves as one of the city’s shining stars, with more work to come, namely the $40 million Riverfront Open Space Phase IIb, designed to create expanded public space along the St. Mary’s River.
The mayor noted that $1 billion has been invested in city’s downtown over the last decade and another $1 billion projected over the next 10 years.
“Truly, we live work and play in a city that’s like no other whose time is now to make an impact for this generation, and for generations to follow,” Henry said.
