Fort Wayne Insurer Plans Big Expansion

Subscribe NowFort Wayne-based Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Co. is expanding in the Allen County city and plans to add up to 100 jobs by the end of 2022. The company, which specializes in insurance for churches and Christian schools, says it will invest more than $25 million into the expansion.
Brotherhood says the expansion of its office space will allow for future growth as well, with the possibility of adding as many as 300 new employees in the future. The company currently has nearly 500 employees in Fort Wayne. Construction is set to begin next month, with plans to wrap up by September 2020.
The Allen County company was founded in 1917, serving eight churches in Indiana, Ohio and Illinois. Over the past century, Brotherhood says it has grown to serve more than 60,000 ministries in 47 states and Washington D.C. It also insures mission travel.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is offering Brotherhood Mutual more than $900,000 in conditional tax credits based on the job creation plans. Northeast Indiana Works and the Fort Wayne City Council are also working on incentives.
