The new Hop River Brewing and Bon Bon’s Coffee locations are the first portions of the expansion to open to the public.
The East Terminal expansion is part of the airport’s $140 million Project Gateway, which has already seen a complete renovation of its West Terminal.
The new restaurant and coffee shop, which are locally owned businesses, were developed under the operation of North Carolina-based Tailwind Hospitality Inc.
The airport said in a news release that the new concessions aim to enhance the passenger experience by offering local options.
“This new addition allows our passengers to enjoy local flavors and a unique sense of place, enhancing the travel experience with a true taste of our region’s vibrant culture and promoting the idea of both flying and eating local,” said Scott Hinderman, executive director of airports at Fort Wayne International.
Work on the East Terminal expansion began in 2023 and is expected to be complete by August 2025, Hindermand told Inside INdiana Business earlier this year.
In addition to the two terminal renovation efforts, Project Gateway has also included a parking lot rehabilitation project, rental car return lot canopy expansion and renewable solar energy project.
