Purdue Fort Wayne to Detail Master Plan’s First Phase

A planning committee is offering its first glimpse of the possibilities. On Wednesday, the first phase of a comprehensive master plan will be open to the public.
University faculty, staff, students and the community-at-large are invited to review and comment on the 20-year plan.
The committee was tasked with several forward-thinking questions, such as what are the university needs in the 21st century? How will growth be handled? Is the plan flexible to deal with unknown trends?
“We’ve been working with Ayres Saint Gross, one of the country’s leading master plan consultants for higher education,” says Greg Justice, associate vice chancellor for facilities management. “In fact, they just completed the Purdue University-West Lafayette master plan last year.”
Justice says they hope to have the full draft of the comprehensive plan ready for public review by the end of the year. Once that review is completed and recommendations are considered, the plan is expected to be presented to the full Board of Trustees in April of next year.
The open house takes place Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. in the Classic Ballroom in the Walb Student Union.
