The company plans to build a new manufacturing space in Heinsberg, Germany, which it says will establish its European insulation manufacturing and distribution presence.
Troy Geuther, managing director of international operations for Firestone, says the new facility will expand production and distribution of polysio foam insulation, which is used in commercial construction. Firestone says the facility is expected to be fully operational in 2018.
"The investment in expanded manufacturing capacity for our Firestone roofing insulation products is a key part of our overarching strategy to grow our business and ensure we are meeting the needs of our European and global customers," said Tim Dunn, president of Firestone Building Products. "We are excited to work with our local business partners and government officials to expand our global operations in Heinsberg."
The company did not release investment details for the plant. Firestone also has a manufacturing facility in Terrassa, Spain, which it acquired in 2013.
