Our partners at CBS4 report the Jennerjahn Machine building caught fire while the business was closed and fire crews deemed the structure a total loss.
The Center Township Fire Department says it took about three hours to extinguish the fire after being called to the building at 901 Massachusetts Ave. in Matthews.
Jennerjahn Machine President Chris Jennerjahn told CS4 it is believed the fire started in the manufacturing area. He said the machine shop, inventory area and offices were destroyed. The assembly line area suffered smoke and soot damage.
Jennerjahn Machine makes products such as surface slitter rewinders, center slitter rewinders, and automated packaging machines for a variety of markets.
Chris Jennerjahn said the company plans to rebuild and is currently looking for a temporary location. He said he plans to retain and continue to pay all employees.
