Fairbanks, Cummins Foundations Boost The Mind Trust

A $400,000 grant from the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation in Indianapolis will cover training and leadership development for local school leaders through the nationally-recognized Relay Graduate School of Education. An additional $230,000 from the Columbus-based Cummins Foundation will go toward The Mind Trust’s $32 million Grow Great Schools Campaign.
The Fairbanks Foundation grant will increase the number of participants in Relay’s National Principals Academy and National Principal Supervisors Academy through The Mind Trust from 12 to 25 per year. Mind Trust Senior Director of School Supports Joe White says "not only was initial interest in Relay’s National Principals Academy higher than anticipated, but demand has continued to increase as school leaders from our first cohort of Fellows see the results of Relay’s best practices. We’re grateful to the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation for support that will allow even more talented leaders in Indianapolis to benefit from this next-level training and leadership development."
The Cummins Foundation funds will boost the campaign, which is aiming to double the number of students within Indianapolis Public Schools boundaries attend high-quality public schools. Mind Trust Chief Executive Officer David Harris says "ensuring that every student in Indianapolis has access to an excellent education is a monumental challenge, and one that cannot be done alone. That’s why we are grateful to Cummins for their commitment to helping us meet this challenge through their support for new Innovation Network Schools."
