Visit Evansville, also formerly the Evansville Convention & Visitors Bureau, is rebranding itself as Explore Evansville.
The area’s marketing organization announced the new name in a press release Wednesday, writing that the brand is rooted in both history and innovation.
“Our organization seeks to embody the spirit of innovation while paying tribute to the area’s remarkable past,” Explore Evansville President and CEO Alexis Berggren said. “Through our new visual identity, we wanted to acknowledge the unique geography of our city and honor the authentic charm of Evansville.”
Explore Evansville is funded through legislation that directs innkeeper tax revenue to tourism infrastructure. Its leaders say the organization has invested more than $40 million in brick-and-mortar projects since 1995, using successful hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues to support local business.
The organization also operates the Evansville Sports Complex, a multi-use sports facility home to Deaconess Sports Park and Goebel Soccer Complex.
Explore Evansville estimates the area has seen 170,000 overnight stays and about $112.3 million funneled into the local economy since 2020, stimulating local business in the years following coronavirus pandemic-driven shut downs.
“Evansville’s diverse range of offerings, combined with the economic impact generated by Explore Evansville in its various forms over the years, serves as a testament to the commitment and success of our destination marketing organization,” Board Chair Joe Kiefer II said in the news release. “Explore Evansville takes pride in being a catalyst for growth and will continue to support the ongoing development of the community.”
