Explore Evansville has announced that the National Junior College Athletic Association Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships will take place at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in 2027.
The event will mark the first time an NJCAA championship will be decided in Evansville.
“Evansville has become a premier destination for championships, and we’re excited to welcome the NJCAA to our community,” Aaron King, assistant director of sports development with Explore Evansville, said in a news release. “The Deaconess Aquatic Center is the perfect venue to deliver an unforgettable experience for student-athletes and fans alike.”
The event will take place March 3-6, 2027.
The Deaconess Aquatic Center hosted the championships for the Great Lakes Valley Conference and the Missouri Valley Conference this year. The venue is home to the Lilly King Competition Pool, named for the Evansville native and six-time Olympic medalist.
“We are beyond thrilled that Evansville has been awarded the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships,” Jennifer Brown, operating manager at Deaconess Aquatic Center, said in the release. “We look forward to showcasing the City of Evansville and the Deaconess Aquatic Center to NJCAA teams and spectators, and we’re incredibly thankful for the opportunity to host such a prestigious event.”
Explore Evansville did not provide an estimate of how many people are expected to attend the event.
