Marton most recently served as operations and finance manager for the Nashville Farmers’ Market in Tennessee.
Marton succeeds the recently-retired Robin Mallery, who had been involved with the nonprofit for nine years.
“I am excited for the energy and passion Maria will bring to not only Urban Seeds but to Evansville as a whole,” says Casey Williams, Board Chair. “I have no doubt she will take the great work and collaboration that has been underway over the last few years to a new level.”
Urban Seeds was founded in 2005 as a community garden project and has since expanded with the goal of creating food systems that provide access to healthy food to all who need it.
The organization said it partners with schools, businesses, nonprofits, children’s centers, shelters, faith-based organizations, and others to fix what it says is a disparity in access to nourishing food in Evansville.
