Equipment Dealer Scooped Up by Michigan Operator

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1943, Howell Tractor has facilities in Gary and Peru. It serves a wide array of industries, including heavy construction, mining, and material handling.
Alta is one of the largest equipment dealerships in the U.S., specializing in cranes, earthmoving equipment and lift trucks. It has 51 dealerships across the Midwest, as well as New England, New York and Virginia.
“We intend to build on the strength of Howell Tractor’s reputation as a premier service provider and the partnerships it has established with leading manufacturers to enhance our overall customer experience,” said Ryan Greenawalt, chief executive officer of Alta.
The companies say the transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2020.
