While financial details of the project are not being disclosed, the company, which provides testing and energy analysis services for the residential construction industry, says the additional space will allow it to keep up with growing demand.
Energy Diagnostics says it outgrew its existing space as it doubled its staff over the past few years. The additional 5,000 square feet is designed to support its current employees “with room for continued growth.”
The company currently employs 46 workers, though not all work out of the Valpo office. A spokesperson for Energy Diagnostics says many are energy raters working remotely in the field throughout the Midwest.
The grand reopening of the facility coincided with the company’s 30th anniversary. Energy Diagnostics was founded by Jerry, Karen and Jeff Thatcher and is now led by CEO Taylor Schwarzkopf, daughter of Jerry and Karen.
“Watching my family grow this business from the ground up has been nothing short of inspiring,” Schwarzkopf said in a statement to Inside INdiana Business. “Sharing the experience of celebrating the newly expanded building with my parents and Uncle who founded Energy Diagnostics has been a tremendous honor. This expanded office will enable us to continue serving the needs of our clients for years to come. We are excited to continue in our mission to improve the efficiency, environmental impact, and comfort of buildings throughout the country.”
The company says it assists professional builders, developers, HVAC companies, architects, building inspectors and municipal building departments with code compliance, energy modeling, HVAC design, green building certification, air sealing, and blower door and duct testing.
Energy Diagnostics provides services throughout Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.
