GREENFIELD, Ind. – (January 21, 2014) – Hosting the winter games takes years of planning so that the local infrastructure can sustain the host venue as well as the influx of visitors. EnerDel, Inc., a leader in utility-scale lithium-ion battery energy storage systems, is proud to be at center stage after being selected to support the updated utility infrastructure around Sochi.
In 2010, EnerDel was originally given the honor of supplying back-up power for the substations that support the 2014 Olympic Winter Games at Sochi. EnerDel’s system has since been built, delivered, and commissioned well in advance of the start of the games, with the opening ceremonies slated for February 7, 2014.
EnerDel engineers have worked on-site with local and global partners to install the 1.5 megawatt, 2.5 megawatt-hour energy storage system.

In addition to the Sochi energy storage system, EnerDel also built, delivered, and commissioned an identical 1.5 megawatt, 2.5 megawatt-hour energy storage system in the city of St. Petersburg.
