A gift from the Paul and Judy Estridge Family Foundation and other individual donors in the community has created the Westfield Endowment Fund.
The $95,000 unrestricted fund will be used to provide grants to organizations throughout the city. Westfield Mayor Andy Cook says the Westfield City Council has committed an additional $10,000 to the endowment and is encouraging others within the community to match the gift.
"This is an important day in our community because every dollar in the Westfield Endowment Fund represents an opportunity to impact somebody’s life," Cook said in a news release. "The fund will allow many of our local non-profits to expand the meaningful work they do every day."
The fund will be managed by the Legacy Fund, a Hamilton County-based affiliate of the Central Indiana Community Foundation. A grant committee made up of residents from each city within Hamilton County will make grant recommendations for the Legacy Fund board of directors to approve three times per year.
