The event, which starts Thursday, will be held at the Elkhart Health & Aquatics Center. It is hosted by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.
The Elkhart County Convention & Visitors Bureau says the swimming and diving competition had an economic impact of approximately $600,000 for the three-day event in 2022.
The CVB says last year’s competition represented 2,000 hotel room nights. The agency says the number could be higher this year as the 2022 event had limited capacity at the venue because of COVID precautions.
“It’s going to be exciting to see thousands of visitors enjoying Elkhart’s hospitality, dining in our restaurants, and going for their best swimming times and diving scores. The National Invitational Championship is a win-win for everyone involved, but especially for the entrepreneurs and businesses in the Elkhart area,” said Jon Hunsberger, executive director of the Elkhart County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Ohio State University won the women’s team competition in 2022, while Tennessee finished first in the men’s team standings.
