The companies say the new partnership will create a stable, continuous pipeline of talent for organizations in need.
The companies say expanding opportunities for STEM students is increasingly important. The Georgetown Center on Education and the Workforce STEM report estimate 2.4 million job openings in STEM will be available nationwide through 2018. In Indiana, that equates to over 115,000 STEM jobs.
“Acquisition of talent with the necessary critical thinking and problem solving skills acquired through a STEM education continues to be a top-level concern to C-levels and executives of every industry,” said John Welch, CEO of STEM Premier. “Students who possess the necessary STEM knowledge, talent, and skills to excel throughout their careers continue to face challenges in being discovered by corporations seeking talent, especially in under-served and underrepresented areas."
Carmel-based Eleven Fifty Academy is a nonprofit coding academy offering an immersion training program for web and app development. Since launching in January, it has served over 500 students from around the world. STEM Premier is an online, subscription-based network that connects academic institutions, corporate partners and government agencies to a pool of qualified STEM talent.
