Partnership Strengthens Women in Tech

Subscribe NowFishers-based Eleven Fifty Academy is partnering with Women & Hi Tech to help mentor women pursuing technology-related careers. Members of the nonprofit organization will meet each week with women currently enrolled in the Academy’s software development course.
“Women & Hi Tech is dedicated to helping women in all industries, specifically technology, so this is a real opportunity for us to be on the ground floor with these women helping them as they start out,” said Tiffany White, board president of Women & Hi Tech. "Our members will speak to the women about their careers, about how they got to where they are, and help students see what road blocks and paths they might take."
Eleven Fifty Academy Chief Executive Officer John Qualls also views the new partnership as a win-win.
“We are excited to partner with Women & Hi Tech and their membership to mentor our female students," said Qualls. "Who better to understand the opportunity and challenges for women in tech than the women who have already forged the path into a tech career?”
As one of the largest women’s organizations in Indianapolis, Women & Hi Tech says it will also use its vast network of members to assist Eleven Fifty in identifying companies willing to interview students for internships and apprenticeship opportunities after graduation.
"A lot of our members are women that own small businesses in tech and women that work for larger companies as well," says White. "We will be advocates for these women and for Eleven Fifty Academy by getting their name out there."
