Election Day Brings Big Gary Upset

Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson lost her primary to Lake County Assessor Jerome Prince. In Indianapolis, Mayor Joe Hogsett and Republican Jim Merritt won their primaries, as did the mayors of Fort Wayne, Evansville and Bloomington.
Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry will face Republican Tim Smith in November’s election. Opposing parties have until June 30 to select candidates to run against Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton.
Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness and Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers also won contested primary races Tuesday, as did Anderson Mayor Tom Broderick. South Bend Community Investment Director James Mueller, who was endorsed by current mayor and presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg, won his primary race, and will face Republican Sean Hass in the November election.
