Ehlerding has served in the role since 2012 and will leave the business retention, expansion and attraction organization October 31.
He has been named corporate accounts manager for the northeast U.S. by Tennessee-based Varco Pruden Buildings. His new position with the steel building system supplier will be based in Decatur.
The board of directors for the Wells County Chamber of Commerce and Wells County Economic Development have begun a search for Ehlerding’s successor.
During his tenure, the county has racked up some large expansions. The organization says last year, companies committed to more than $370 million in expansions and new industrial developments, which included plans for more than new 350 jobs. So far this year, over $100 million in expansions have been announced.
Ehlerding says "there is little doubt the people and leadership of Wells County are some of the best in the State, and being part of this team is something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. Partnerships between leaders in the public and the private sectors take place daily in Wells County… This is the sole reason for this community’s long list of successes."
The board says anyone interested in the position can send inquiries to wellscountysearch@gmail.com.
