Education not-for-profit disperses $325K to 25 Indy organizations

Subscribe NowSeveral Indianapolis school and community organizations will receive investments from education not-for-profit The Mind Trust, totaling $325,000, to support programming at local public charter and innovation schools.
The Indianapolis-based organization said the investment adds to the now $675,000 donated over the past four years to majority people of color-led organizations.
“The programming that these awards support touch on academics, leadership and character development, arts, literacy, cultural celebrations, social-emotional skills, and so much more,” Executive Vice President Shannon Williams said in a news release. “It is crucial to create opportunities that amplify the power of families and neighborhoods most impacted by education change.”
This year’s investment gave $292,500 to not-for-profits and $32,500 to community-based organizations.
The grand total was dispersed to 25 organizations for reasons such as community empowerment, cultural celebrations and student programming:
- Bethel Cathedral African Methodist Episcopal Church of Indianapolis – $4,000
- Immigrant Welcome Center – $25,000
- TFT Design, LLC / Time for Them Magazine – $10,000
- The City League – $10,000
- Urban Initiative – $2,500
- Asian American Alliance – $10,000
- International Marketplace Coalition – $10,000
- Island Mid Fest LLP – $10,000
- Lillian Davis Foundation, Inc. – $3,000
- SHE. Event Indy Co – $2,500
- Aspire Higher Foundation – $30,000
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis – $30,000
- Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America – $15,000
- Fight for Life Foundation Inc. – $10,000
- Girls IN STEM Academy, in partnership with Paramount Schools, Purdue Polytechnic High Schools, Every Girl CAN STEM, and Girl Scouts of Central Indiana – $50,000
- La Plaza, Inc. – $30,000
- Ladies Under Construction, Inc. – $5,000
- Latinas Welding Guild, Inc. – $5,000
- Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana – $2,500
- Marian University Latino Leadership Initiative – $2,500
- Marlin Jackson – $10,000
- Re-Generation Indy – $10,000
- Recorder Women’s Auxiliary – $15,000
