Edna Martin Center Launches Center for Entrepreneurs

Subscribe NowThe Indianapolis-based Edna Martin Christian Center is launching a new Community Solutions and Entrepreneurship Center that will aim to help entrepreneurs get new businesses off the ground. Immanuel Ivey has been named Micro Enterprise Director for the new center.
Ivey was most recently the EMCC’s program manager for the Center for Working Families and held the position since 2016.
The center will work to develop new businesses, help new businesses grow and take established businesses to the next level, kicking off with a Business Growth Forum April 11 and an entrepreneurial workshop series.
The center joins EMCC’s Career Education and Training Center, which offers certificate-based training in fields such as logistics, the culinary industry and construction. Healthcare and IT certification programs are slated to be added in 2020.
Both the new center and the existing career education program will be funded in part by an $87,500 grant from the Citi Foundation and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation which will be distributed over three years.
The Entrepreneurship Center is currently headquartered at 37 Place, EMCC’s main location at 2605 E. 25th Street. However, plans are in place to move the Entrepreneurship Center to EMCC’s newly renovated Leadership & Legacy Center on Ralston Avenue. Phase II of the multi-million-dollar renovation will create a permanent home for the Entrepreneurship Center.
