The Industry Appreciation and Business Study Mission will include economic development, government and business leaders from the 10-county region.
Officials say the trip will focus on partners that have facilities located in the region. The ECIRP says Japanese companies employ almost 4,000 in east central Indiana.
Richmond Mayor David Snow, who will be part of the mission, says "I am very appreciative of the relationship we have established with our Japanese business counterparts. This trip will help to solidify those relationships, as well as begin to build new connections that will hopefully foster new business in the future. I want our partnerships to be mutually successful."
Japanese companies invest more in Indiana than most other states. There are 260 companies from the Asian nation with a presence in the state, employing an estimated 52,000 Hoosiers according to the ECIRP.
Rushville Mayor Mike Pavey, who will also be on the trip, says "INTAT Precision has grown their business twice in the last four years, which accounts for nearly $50 million in investment and more than 70 new employees. This trip is paramount in our efforts to thank INTAT’s parent company, Aisin Takaoka Co., for the investment into our community, while potentially developing new relationships that may nurture additional investment and economic opportunity in Rush County."
In addition to Snow and Pavey, the delegation includes ECIRP President Mindy Kenworthy, Economic Development Corporation of Wayne County President Valerie Shaffer, Rush County Economic & Community Development Corp Executive Director John McCane and Japan-America Society of Indiana Executive Director Theresa Kulczak.
