Spannraft says the experience at Valpo created the foundation on which she built her career. She retired from Milwaukee-based Miller Brewing Co., where she served as director of accounting, in 1995.
"We are truly grateful for Deborah’s support of and belief in the University and the College of Business," said President Mark Heckler. "By committing endowed support to the College of Business, she has strengthened the College and its students, faculty and programs in perpetuity."
The gift is part of the university’s "Forever Valpo: The Campaign for Our Future," which seeks to raise $250 million. To date, the campaign has raised more than $135 million.
Earlier this month, Valparaiso announced it had received a total of nearly $3 million in contributions that will also count toward the capital campaign.
