The project will extend the existing trail by just over a mile, totaling three miles and connecting the Wabash River to Lancaster Park. It also is part of the 81-mile Indiana Visionary Poka-Bache trail system.
“Walking trails are by far the most used park amenities, and developing this trail has been a long-term goal in Bluffton for many years,” Brandy Fiechter, Bluffton Parks and Recreation superintendent, said in a news release. “This mile of trail will complete the final connection from the newly developed Lancaster Park to the historic downtown, ending at Ouabache State Park.”
The extension is supported by the $404,035 state grant, awarded in the grant program’s third round. The trails grant program has dispersed $180 million for 89 projects to date.
