The two-day celebration will include a distinguished panel lecture and a ribbon-cutting dedication ceremony.
The university first announced the creation of the school in March 2022 as part of its five-year “DePauw’s Bold & Gold 2027” strategic plan.
The school was initially supported by two gifts totaling $40 million. The first $20 million came from alumni Timothy and Sharon Ubben specifically to establish the school.
Another $20 million was given by alumni Steve and Karen Sanger to establish the Sanger Leadership Initiative, as well as endow the inaugural Sanger Professor of Leadership, the endowed directorship for the initiative, and DePauw’s first Sanger scholarships for students.
DePauw bills itself as the only top 50 liberal arts university in the Midwest with a business school, and one of only four in the nation.
“For nearly two centuries, a DePauw education with its focus on critical thinking, deep inquiry, ethics and leadership development has graduated leaders in a range of fields who have served as founders and CEOs of profit and non-profit organizations,” DePauw President Dr. Lori White said in a news release. “As we officially launch our new School of Business and Leadership, we continue and formalize this rich tradition and our commitment to creating leaders the world needs.”
On Wednesday, DePauw will host a School of Business and Leadership Launch Lecture featuring both Steve Sanger and Jeff Ubben. The lecture will be moderated by CNBC Closing Bell Overtime co-anchor, and DePauw alumnus, Jon Fortt.
The ribbon-cutting for the school will take place on Thursday as part of the dedication ceremony for the newly renovated Harrison Hall, where the school will be housed.
