On Friday, the university announced Blake Allen will be stepping down as head coach. Allen has led the Tigers baseball team since 2016 and in those eight seasons, he’s put up a 142-139 record.
In a release, DePauw said Allen was leaving “to pursue another opportunity” but did not say what that was.
“Blake has been a tremendous mentor to our student-athletes and athletics staff, I thank him for his service and influence on DePauw baseball, our athletics program, and University as a whole. We are grateful for Coach Allen’s leadership of our baseball program and he will forever be a Tiger,” said DePauw athletic director Stevie Baker-Watson.
The Tigers best season with Allen at the helm was his first in 2016 when the team posted a 33-13 record and reached the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. Last season, the Tigers went 23-17.
Before becoming head coach at DePauw, Allen was an assistant coach at Vanderbilt. Current assistant coach Jon Erhard will serve as the interim head coach while the school conducts a national search.
