Dallara to Manufacture INDYCAR Bodywork Kits

Subscribe NowIndianapolis-based INDYCAR has announced Italian manufacturer Dallara will provide the universal bodywork kits that will be used by all Verizon IndyCar Series teams during the 2018 season. The kits will fit the current chassis, which are also manufactured by Dallara at its factory in Speedway.
Teams are currently using aero kits made by Chevrolet and Honda and will continue to do so through the end of the 2017 season. INDYCAR says the universal kits will have two configurations: one for superspeedway ovals and another for street courses, road courses and short ovals.
"2017 marks the 20th anniversary of our presence in INDYCAR, and it is a great honor for us to continue our partnership with the Verizon IndyCar Series," said Andrea Pontremoli, chief executive officer of Dallara. "Our main goal for the new aero kit was to work on the style, trying to maintain the American essence of the car and the series keeping a good level of performance and safety."
INDYCAR will hold the first test of the superspeedway oval configuration in late July at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The road course configuration will undergo testing August 1 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. More tests will take place at Iowa Speedway on August 28 and Sebring International Raceway on September 26.
In January, INDYCAR announced it had extended its partnership with Dallara to continue manufacturing driver safety cells for the series through the 2020 season.
