Cummins senior vice president to retire

Subscribe NowTony Satterthwaite, a Cummins executive who held the positions of president, chief operating officer, chairman and, most recently, senior vice president over his 36 years with the Columbus-based engine maker, will retire in September.
“Tony’s more than three decades of visionary leadership with Cummins have produced a lasting impact on our company and our people, helping lay the strong foundation that supports our future growth and success,” CEO Jennifer Rumsey said in a news release. “Tony has been a leading force in pushing Cummins to be an innovator in our industry, grow and expand our businesses, and evolve the way we work to better serve our customers.”
Satterthwaite joined Cummins in 1988 and held several sales and leadership roles early in his career, the the company said. He later moved to Singapore to lead the Southeast Asia region before serving in a host of other roles, including president of the power generation business, president of the distribution business, president, chief operating officer and vice chairman.
“Throughout his tenure, Tony has led the company through periods of significant growth and helped us navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with exceptional leadership,” Rumsey said in the news release. “In addition, Tony realized early on that investing in our people and allocating the resources to build strong, capable leaders would give Cummins a competitive advantage—and it has.”
Satterthwaite serves on the board of directors of specialty engineered products manufacturer IDEX Corp. and has served as a member of the Cornell Engineering Advisory Council and as a board member for the National Association of Manufacturers
