Using donations totaling $95,000 from The Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, the 1st Source Foundation and the Judd Leighton Foundation, the organization will use the new space to keep up with the growth of its food rescue operations that serve local charities, according to the publication.
The group hopes to install enough of the new kitchen to start using it this spring and move out of the kitchen space it has been renting in a former Madison Center building since its start in 2017.
The new site will allow more volunteers to work, rather than just five to eight at a time, and allow Cultivate to accept truckloads of donations. Cultivate also hopes to hold its Taste of Hope banquet at the completed site on April 25.
