CTS Phasing Out Production in Elkhart

Elkhart-based CTS Corp. (NYSE: CTS) has announced it will phase out production at its Elkhart plant by the middle of 2018. The company, which has Elkhart roots dating back more than 100 years, says the plant will transition into a research and development center, a move that will impact about 230 employees over the next three years.
CTS says it is working with union representatives, elected officials and civic leaders to find outplacement and retraining opportunities for affected employees, who were notified of the move Friday.
"We are committed to the fair and respectful treatment of all employees throughout this difficult transition process," said Kieran O’Sullivan, chief executive officer of CTS. "We believe that these changes are in the best interest of our company, our customers and our shareholders over the long term."
CTS says the move is part of organization changes being made throughout North America. Similar moves are being done at other locations to "simplify operations," according to the company.
