Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the commission received an update on the new hospital, which is being built near Interstate 65 and U.S. 231.
The hospital is modeled after the $243 million Franciscan Health hospital in Michigan City that opened in 2019.
While work has already begun at the site, commissioners must still approve some infrastructure elements, including a roundabout designed to accommodate large truck traffic in the area.
Jeff Ban, principal and president of DVG Team Inc., said he hopes to have permits to begin building the foundations for the new 130-patient room health care facility within the next several weeks.
In late September, Franciscan broke ground in September. The hospital is scheduled to open in fall 2023.
