The company, which manufactures baling wire products, said the effort will also include a small addition to its workforce.
The city of Crawfordsville said in a news release that the company is adding an automated wire forming cell to its manufacturing facility. The cell includes a computer numerical control wire bending machine, a secondary process mill, a resistance welding station, and a Fanuc robot to tend to the equipment.
Midwest Bale Ties said the system will significantly enhance its manufacturing capabilities by delivering high-quality products while optimizing efficiency through streamlined production, reduced waste, and improved delivery times.
“As a family-owned business with a 25-year legacy, we’ve always prioritized customer satisfaction and quality,” President Jason Ramey said in the release. “This new automated wire forming cell will help us continue that tradition by elevating our manufacturing capabilities while maintaining the superior standards we are known for. Additionally, it strengthens our commitment to providing for our employees—ensuring we can offer competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and a secure, supportive work environment where our team can thrive.”
Midwest Bale Ties currently employs 14 full-time workers and plans to add one position with the procurement of the new equipment.
The company plans to seek tax incentives from the city, which will be considered by the Crawfordsville City Council next Monday.
“As Crawfordsville continues to grow, we are thrilled to see family-owned businesses like Midwest Bale Ties investing in advanced technology,” said Mayor Todd Barton. “This expansion not only strengthens their operations but also brings new opportunities for our community and we’re excited about the positive impact this will have on local jobs and economic development.”
