General Manager Mike Rich told our partners at WTWO-TV the company is still targeting an opening date near the end of the first quarter of 2024.
When complete, the venue will feature a 400,000-square-foot casino building with 56,000 square feet of gaming space that includes 1,000 slots and 50 table games, as well as a 125-room hotel.
Rich said crews have the framing for the first eight floors of the hotel complete.
“They’re moving the deck pieces along, and they continue to pour concrete every day on the main floor of the casino,” Rich said. “We’re at a point where by the middle of June, we feel like we’re gonna be where the hotel is basically topped off, and we are gonna start really working on the insides of the hotel and the casino.”
Rich said the only major change in the design that has come recently is moving the pool from the rooftop to the main floor, which he emphasized would create a better pool experience for guests and allow for changes to the rooftop bar.
“I think we’ve made the 10th-floor bar experience more exciting than what was initially planned,” Rich said. “I think it’s going to be a phenomenal place to get a drink for our customers when they show up. I think for all of Terre Haute, it’ll be a great place to grab a drink after work.”
In December, CDI announced the cost of the project had increased from $260 million to $290 million due to rising industry costs.
The following month, the name of the venue had been changed from its original title, The Queen of Terre Haute Resort. CDI said the change was made to streamline branding efforts for the venue.
Rich told WTWO that advertisements for a dealer school for the casino will begin showing up around mid-June, with the school beginning this fall. The casino will begin hiring for the majority of frontline jobs and supervisor roles in early 2024.
