Officials say the project, called Amplify Hancock, will house 106,000 square feet of education and training space for area residents. The main users of the facility will be high schoolers from the county’s four school corporations who can take career-focused courses there.
Ivy Tech Community College will also set up shop in Amplify Hancock with classes for both high schoolers and adults looking to upskill in their career paths. The $48 million development is going on a 20-acre site at the corner of County Road 300 North and Country Road 200 West near Interstate-70.
Hancock County will own the property, though the Indiana Economic Development Corp. put up $1.4 million in Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) funding to buy the land.
“Amplify Hancock will elevate talent development and skills training to prepare Hoosiers for the in-demand jobs of today and tomorrow, while ensuring that Indiana has the workforce needed to support continued industry innovation and economic growth,” said Indiana Secretary of Commerce David Rosenberg in a written statement.
The facility is expected to be finished by July 2026. Ratio Architects designed the project and construction is now underway by Meyer Najem. There is also room to expand the facility in the future.
Beyond the READI funding, Hancock County plans to use bonds and TIF funds to pay for the project, according to the Hancock County Economic Development Council.
